Q:

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!This table shows the input and output values for a linear function f(x).What is the difference of outputs for any two inputs that are one value apart?x f(x)−2 20−1 −50 −301 −552 −80

Accepted Solution

A:
What is the difference of outputs for any two inputs that are one value apart? If you look at the column of "x" [input], you will see that they are 1 unit apart. You can thus look at the corresponding values of "f(x)" [output] and determine their difference. Checking all of those, gives us the difference (same for all).
Output 2 - Output 1:[tex]-5-20=-25[/tex]
Output 3 - Output 2:[tex]-30-(-5)=-30+5=-25[/tex]
Output 4 - Output 3:[tex]-55-(-30)=-55+30=-25[/tex]
Output 5 - Output 4:[tex]-80-(-55)=-80+55=-25[/tex]
So the difference of outputs for any two inputs one value apart are [tex]-25[/tex]
ANSWER: [tex]-25[/tex]
